Monthly open mic night hosted by Peter Turrell at The Brickmakers, open to all abilities with comedians and poets welcome.
The Brickmakers hosts its monthly open mic on Thursday 29 October, from 19:30 to 23:30, with Peter Turrell running the night. It's a free entry, so you can just turn up and listen or sign up to play.
The night is open to all abilities, and it's not just for musicians: comedians and poets are welcome too. If you're playing, you'll need to bring your own instrument, but the venue provides the PA and microphones. It's the kind of night that draws a knowledgeable mix of working musicians, regular gig-goers and locals, so whether you're testing out new material or just having a go, you'll be in good company.
For those who haven't spent much time there, The Brickmakers is one of Norwich's most iconic grassroots live-music venues, run by locals for locals. It's a busy place that runs live music seven days a week, 364 days a year, booking more than 90 bands a month. It has three stages: the main room, which mostly books local covers bands and usually offers free entry; B2, a grassroots space for up-and-coming acts from across the country, leaning towards metal and rock but also taking in pop, punk and folk; and an outside stage used during the summer. The line-up ranges from local favourites to touring acts from around the world, alongside tribute nights, quizzes, karaoke and sessions led by local figures like Saxon guitarist Paul Quinn.
