The Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal, with its poppy shop, at The Forum in Norwich.
The Poppy Appeal comes to The Forum on Saturday 31 October, from 10am to 4pm. It's the Royal British Legion's biggest fundraising campaign, and it usually runs through November, so this is one of the earlier dates in the calendar. The day is simple: you buy a poppy and the money goes to the Legion.
If you're not entirely sure what the Legion does, it's an armed forces charity that supports members of the Royal Navy, the British Army and the Royal Air Force, as well as veterans and their families. The help they provide covers both during and after service: guidance during deployment, support through financial hardship, bereavement support, and care for elderly loved ones. It's the kind of work that happens in the background for a lot of people, and the Poppy Appeal is how they fund it.

Beyond the appeal, the organisation runs a Poppy Shop and encourages Gifts in Wills, and it's currently working to a ten-year strategy called Our Strategy to 2035. If you're looking for more information or need support yourself, their helpline is 0800 802 8080, open 8am to 8pm every day. On the day at The Forum, the focus is on the poppy: buy one and you're supporting the cause. It's at The Forum in Norwich on Saturday 31 October, 10am to 4pm.
