Intimate acoustic night by Paul Quinn of Saxon with The Cards, drawing on Saxon and The Cards songs, with electric numbers by special guest Adam & The Hellcats.
The Cards play The Brickmakers on Wednesday 28 October, part of a six-date acoustic tour across the UK. It's an international classic rock power trio: Paul Quinn, the original founding guitarist of Saxon, on guitar; American multi-instrumentalist Harrison Young on vocals and bass; and Dutch drummer Koen Herfst on drums. Quinn, known as 'The King' in the band, wrote the riffs that helped define the New Wave of British Heavy Metal on Saxon classics like 'Wheels of Steel' and 'Denim and Leather', and he announced this solo run after stepping back from the group's heavy touring schedule.
The trio released a self-titled debut album in 2018, and their follow-up, Generation Jukebox, is available on all major platforms. On this tour, Young takes on the role of moderator while Quinn draws from both The Cards' and Saxon's discographies, spanning five decades of his career. It's an acoustic set, so you'll hear those familiar riffs stripped back rather than plugged in.
Opening the night is special guest drummer Adam Feasey, who plays with his own band, Adam & The Hellcats. Unlike the main act, Feasey's set is fully electric, so the evening starts with a proper band sound before shifting into the more intimate, acoustic format of The Cards.
