Scottish stand-up Larry Dean returns with a riotous hour about fiercely refusing to grow up.
Larry Dean brings his new show, Hellbent, to the Norwich Theatre Playhouse on Wednesday 4 November. It's a stand-up hour about fiercely refusing to grow up, and the title fits the theme well enough.
Dean is a Scottish comic who bills himself as 'The Gallus Glaswegian Goon' and describes himself as 'emotionally feral'. If that sounds like a lot, it's because he's a high-energy act. The set is a riotous hour built around the idea of digging your heels in against getting older, and it's the kind of thing that works best when you're in the room rather than watching a clip.
He's not a new name on the circuit, either. He's appeared on SNL, Live at the Apollo, QI and The Royal Variety Performance, so he's well-used to playing to big rooms. The critics have described him as chaotic, sentimental and one of the best in the business, which gives you a fair idea of the range he works across a single set — the loud, frantic energy balanced out by the softer, more personal stuff.
