Stand-up show 'Fully Dilated' by Julian Clary, in which he opens up about the traumas behind his camp comedy, on his 2027 UK tour.
Julian Clary brings his new stand-up show, Fully Dilated, to Theatre Royal on Wednesday 30 May 2027, starting at 7:30pm. It's part of a 40-date UK tour that follows a ten-performance run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2026 — his first time back at the festival in 17 years.
The title gives away the pitch: Clary says this is the show where he's decided to open up to the public and reveal all, no longer hiding behind a stage persona. He promises intimate secrets and the traumas that led him to become a camp comic and a renowned homosexual. It's a bit of a shift from the character most of us know, so if you've only ever seen him in the persona, this is the one where he steps out from behind it.
For those who aren't fully up to speed, Clary was one of the most distinctive comics of the early days of alternative comedy. He became an overnight success with Sticky Moments, his iconoclastic Channel 4 game show, and has spent the last 30 years dividing his time between radio, television, film and the stage as an actor, entertainer, presenter and writer. He claims to enjoy the life of a country gentleman in a 16th-century farmhouse, and critics have praised his camp superciliousness and his knack for finding sexual suggestion where others wouldn't look, calling the show filthy, revealing and utterly delightful.
