Newcastle City Farmers Market

Newcastle City Farmers Market is a Sunday regular at the Newcastle Showground on Griffiths Road in Broadmeadow, and it's one of those local institutions that's become a bit of a mecca for foodies, families and anyone just wanting a proper morning out. It's run by NSW Farmers Market Pty Ltd, the same team behind the Gosford City Farmers Market and the Glendale Farmers & Artisan Market, so it's part of a wider network of markets across the region.

The whole point is to showcase the best and freshest local produce the region has to offer. You buy your groceries directly from the farmers and makers who grew, nurtured and made them, which means you're getting seasonal fruit and vegetables straight from the source. Beyond the produce, the stalls cover boutique wineries, gourmet foods and handmade artisan items, with food trucks on hand for when you've done enough shopping and just want to eat. There are family-friendly attractions too, like a jumping castle and pony rides, so it's a spot that works as well for a family morning as it does for a solo grocery run.

The setting is parkland, with entertainment in the food court and plenty of seating to take a break. There's a Little Sprouts play centre offering 'back to basics play' for the little ones, and ATMs on site if you've run short of cash. One thing to keep in mind: dogs aren't allowed, so leave your four-legged friends at home.

It runs every Sunday from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm, though there are a few gaps in the calendar. There's no market on 1 February, 1 March, 12 July, 30 August and 1 November 2026, and the 28 June session is also cancelled. The 5 July market is a slightly different one, running from 6:30 am to 11:30 am. Otherwise, you'll find it at the Newcastle Showground on Griffiths Road, Broadmeadow, NSW 2292, every Sunday morning.
