Newcastle's biggest day on the track with a 10-race program headlined by The Hunter, fashion, gourmet food and an evening party.
The Newcastle Herald Hunter Race Day returns to Newcastle Racecourse on Saturday 14 November, from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm. It's the city's biggest day on the track, and for good reason: there are ten races on the card, with more than A$2.59 million in prize money shared across them. The day draws some of Australia's fastest horses and the country's top jockeys to Broadmeadow, and the centrepiece is The Hunter, the city's A$1 million racing spectacular.
It's not just about the racing, though. The day is built for the crowd, with the usual race day staples on display: the fashion, the gourmet food, and the premium hospitality. There's a Trackside Marquee experience available if you're after something more catered, and the party atmosphere carries well into the evening. Once the final race is over, the stage lights up for a trackside after-party, so the day doesn't just wind down when the horses stop running.
That after-party has a proper headline act this time around: Hot Dub Time Machine will be playing on the Courtyard lawn stage after the racing wraps up. So you can spend the afternoon watching the races and the fashion, and then stay on for the music as the sun goes down.
