The Newcastle City Farmers Market is back at the Newcastle Showground on Sunday 11 October, one of its regular Sunday dates throughout the year. It's run by NSW Farmers Market Pty Ltd, the same team behind the Gosford City Farmers Market and the Glendale Farmers & Artisan Market — a network built around supporting local farmers and rural communities.
The whole point of the day is buying your groceries directly from the people who grew, nurtured and made them. The market brings together stallholders across a few different categories: farmers and producers, food agents, gourmet foods and makers, and artisans and lifestyle. You'll find fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables, boutique wineries, gourmet foods and handmade artisan items, with food trucks on hand for when you're ready to eat on the spot. There are also family-friendly bits like a jumping castle and pony rides for the kids.
It's a regular fixture rather than a one-off, so if you miss this one, there are plenty more to choose from. The market runs on Sundays throughout 2026: 18 and 25 January; 8, 15 and 22 February; 8, 15, 22 and 29 March; 5, 12, 19 and 26 April; 3, 10, 17 and 24 May; 7, 14 and 21 June; 5, 19 and 26 July (with 5 July running 6.30–11.30); 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 August; 6, 13, 20 and 27 September; 4, 11, 18 and 25 October; 8, 15, 22 and 29 November; and 6, 13 and 20 December. There's no market on 1, 7 and 28 June or 1 November.
