A multicultural festival bringing world-class food, live performance and cultural storytelling to Wheeler Place, with cooking demonstrations, music and art workshops.
Global Table takes over Wheeler Place on Hunter Street this Friday 2 October and Saturday 3 October, from 5:00pm to 9:00pm each night. It's part of New Annual, a festival that turns the venue into a global gathering of world-class food, live performance and cultural storytelling right in the city centre. Across the two nights, the space is transformed with atmospheric lighting, a live stage and a bar, and each evening carries its own flavour.
Friday night focuses on Asia, hosted by Jennifer Wong and Benjamin Law. There are cooking demonstrations from MasterChef Australia contestant Depinder Chibber, DJ Maggie Tra and Taiko drumming, with food from Sukimama, Nagisa and HASTHI. Lantern making workshops run alongside the stage, so you can make something while you're there.
Saturday shifts to South America, hosted by Jennifer Wong and Reece Hignell. The line-up brings together the Mexidahlia Mexican Dance Group, Samba Frog and Latin jazz from MIRA, with cooking demonstrations from Pampa Flame and Day of the Dead art workshops. Food comes from Kumache, Churros and El Gringo, and the atmosphere changes to match the region.
