A community-led, neuro-affirming day celebrating neurodiversity and mental health with market stalls, food, and interactive spaces in a family-friendly environment.
The Awesome Human Festival comes to Speers Point Park on Saturday 20 March 2027, a community-led, neuro-affirming day built from lived experience. It's staged by Awesome Human, an Australian inclusive social enterprise and purpose-led apparel brand, and it's set up as a family-friendly space celebrating neurodivergent minds and mental health. The organisers describe it as a day with no pressure to mask, no 'cure culture' and no drugs or alcohol.
On the day, neuro-affirming education sits alongside a community and creative market, local support services and interactive spaces. There are quiet, low-sensory zones, clearly identified safe spaces and easy-read guides to help you find your way around. The festival is intended as an annual cornerstone for the Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and Hunter region.

Half of the profits go to the Awesome Human Community, which partners with mental health professionals to fund neurodiversity assessments and reports, mental health sessions, research and evidence building, and social community catch-ups. The brand's merchandise — shirts, hoodies and wristbands — is designed as conversation and advocacy to reduce stigma and spark connection. The festival takes place at Speers Point Park in Lake Macquarie, in the Newcastle region, on Saturday 20 March 2027.
