A Claytime Workshop

Grounded By Designs is running A Claytime Workshop in Carrington, with sessions starting on Saturday 26 September. It's a small, guided experience where you work with clay at your own pace with the studio's founder, local artist Myf Garven, on hand to help. You don't need any prior experience to join in—just curiosity and a willingness to get a little messy.

Each session includes a guided clay experience in the studio, all the clay you'll need, and use of the shared tools. There's also herbal tea and a selection of treats provided while you work. When you're finished, the studio takes care of the glazing and firing for one of your pieces, which you then get to take home. It's a low-pressure way to spend a few hours making something with your hands, and you walk away with a finished ceramic piece rather than just a lump of dried clay.

The workshop is held at Grounded By Designs, a ceramic studio and workshop space tucked inside MOA & co, a conscious marketplace at 16 Gipps Street, Carrington. Myf Garven founded the studio here, and the whole space is built around sustainability, intentional craftsmanship, and the everyday ritual of making. It's accessible to people with access needs, so it's open to everyone.

Beyond the Claytime sessions, the studio runs a few other things. There's Paint Your Piece, where you decorate a handmade bisque-fired piece, and Present Hands, a mindfulness and clay workshop held with BronTee Meditation. Throughout the year, they also host Grounded Gatherings, seasonal after-hours events with local businesses. A Claytime Workshop runs on 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31 September, and on 7, 14, 17, 24 and 31 October, with two more dates on 14 and 28 November. Tickets are A$120 for all sessions.
