Big-screen screening of the classic MGM musical 'The Wizard of Oz' (1939) at The Parkway Theater, with tickets available online only.
The Parkway Theater is bringing The Wizard of Oz (1939) to the big screen on Saturday, November 28. It's the MGM musical directed by Victor Fleming, rated G, and it's one of those few movies that almost everyone knows by heart.
If you've only ever seen it on a TV screen, the story still hits the same: a tornado sweeps through Kansas and whisks Dorothy, played by Judy Garland, and her dog Toto away to the magical land of Oz. From there, they're pursued by the Wicked Witch of the West and follow the Yellow Brick Road toward the Emerald City to meet the Wizard. Along the way, they pick up a Scarecrow who needs a brain, a Tin Man missing a heart, and a Cowardly Lion in search of courage. It's a family classic that works as well for kids as it does for people who grew up watching it.
The Parkway is presenting this as a big-screen experience for families and fans, so it's a good one to bring the kids to if you're looking for something to do that afternoon. Doors open at 12 PM, and the movie starts at 1 PM. One thing to keep in mind: there's no in-person box office, so you'll need to get your tickets online ahead of time.
