14th annual Día de los Muertos festival with music, art, a puppet bike procession, lucha libre, dance, vendors, food trucks and a film showcase.
Festival de las Calaveras returns to The Hook & Ladder Event Center on Saturday, October 31, from 3 to 11 PM. This is the 14th annual Día de los Muertos celebration for the Twin Cities, a day of music, art, culture and community that pairs English and Spanish. It's open to all ages.
The music is spread across three stages. The main stage features Tropa Magica, Flor Amargo, Making Movies with Malos Pasos, DJ Superbrush427, and MC Monserrat Resendiz. The Rising Voices Stage brings Yuca Frita, DJ Madre Rosa, and MC Larry Lucio Jr., while the Rising Voices Spotlight showcases Virginia's Basement, The Skeleton Crew, Amores, Yung Vato, and youth artists from Art As Mentorship.
Beyond the music, the festival brings outdoor elements inside. There's a Bici-Katrina puppet bike procession, lucha libre, and Mexica dance. Family art activities are led by partners like the Semilla Center for Healing & Art and Bike-Alebrijes MN. The day also includes community ofrendas, a Cine Latino film showcase, and food trucks. The celebration draws on public support and was made possible in part by a grant from the MN State Arts Board.
