Halloween midnight screening of 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' with a live shadow cast performance by Transvestite Soup, an 18+ tradition at The Parkway Theater.
The Parkway Theater is bringing back The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Saturday, October 31, for a midnight screening that doubles as a Halloween night tradition. The movie is the 1975 cult classic directed by Jim Sharman, and it's paired with a live shadow cast performance by Transvestite Soup, who act out the scenes on stage in front of the screen while the film plays.
If you've never seen it, the story follows sweethearts Brad and Janet as they stumble upon the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a transvestite scientist. From there, they meet a host of wild characters, including a rocking biker and a creepy butler, and through elaborate dances and rock songs, Frank-N-Furter unveils his latest creation: a muscular man named Rocky. It's rated R, and the whole thing is billed as 18+.
Costumes and audience participation are welcome, so if you've got a look you've been waiting to wear, this is the night for it. The Parkway is a vintage performing arts venue and movie house in south Minneapolis that programs live music, comedy, and classic films on 35mm, and this screening is part of that Halloween weekend tradition.
