Screening of Gore Verbinski's 'The Ring' (2002) preceded by a pre-movie DJ set by Shane Kramer at The Parkway Theater.
The Parkway Theater is screening Gore Verbinski's The Ring on Wednesday, October 21, with a pre-movie DJ set by Shane Kramer. The film is rated PG-13.
The Ring follows reporter Rachel Keller, who grows skeptical of a videotape filled with nightmarish images that foretell the viewer's death in exactly seven days—until four teenagers die a week after watching it. It's the 2002 American remake of the Japanese horror film Ringu, and seeing it in a theater is a different experience than catching it on a TV screen at home.
Before the movie starts, Shane Kramer takes over the booth. Kramer curates nights of vinyl, music videos, and cinematic nostalgia, and he hosts the radio shows Friday I'm In Love and Sinatra to Slayer, where he blends disco, new wave, soul, and pop. His set here will run right up until the lights go down for the feature.
