Screening of John Carpenter's horror classic 'Halloween' (1978) at The Parkway Theater on Halloween night.
The Parkway Theater is screening John Carpenter's Halloween (1978) on Saturday, October 31, 2026. It's a fitting spot for a Halloween night movie, and the timing is right on the money: the film opens on the night of October 31, 1963, when six-year-old Michael Myers kills his sister. The story picks up fifteen years later, when he escapes a sanitarium and returns to Haddonfield, Illinois, to kill again, while Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasance) hunts for him. Loomis is ultimately unsuccessful, a failure evidenced by the twelve-and-counting sequels, reboots and remakes that followed.
Carpenter directed and wrote the film with Debra Hill, and it stars Jamie Lee Curtis in her film debut alongside Donald Pleasance, P.J. Soles and Nancy Loomis. It's rated R. The rights holders, Compass International Pictures and Trancas International Films, announced that the 1978 film has nearly 2,000 U.S. screenings this fall and is also playing in twelve other countries, so this is one of many theaters showing it across the country this season.
