Screening of 'Annihilation' followed by a post-film conversation with critics Emmet Kowler and Carla Rodriguez.
Sloppy Discs is bringing Annihilation to The Main Cinema on Monday, October 26, as part of their ongoing series. The night starts with a screening of the film, and once the credits roll, the room stays open for a conversation between Emmet Kowler and Carla Rodriguez. It's a simple enough setup: you watch the movie, and then you get to hear two people talk through it.
If you've seen Annihilation before, it's a good excuse to revisit it on a big screen. If you haven't, it's a sci-fi piece that doesn't let go of you easily, so having a conversation to chew on afterward fits the bill. The whole thing is presented by Sloppy Discs, which has been putting together these kinds of screenings around the city.
The conversation is the second half of the evening, and that's where the night really opens up. Kowler and Rodriguez will be talking through the film, and since it's a live discussion, you'll get to hear them work their way through it in real time. It's the kind of thing that's better in person than as a recording, because you're in the room while it's happening.
