Minnesota premiere screening of 'Oxygen', the Israeli drama about motherhood directed by Netalie Braun, at The Main Cinema.
Oxygen plays at The Main Cinema on Tuesday, October 27, as part of the Twin Cities Jewish Film Festival 2026. It's a Minnesota premiere, presented in partnership with the Israel Center of the Minneapolis Jewish Federation and organized by the Minnesota JCC and the Minneapolis Jewish Federation.
Written and directed by Netalie Braun, Oxygen is a tense, nuanced Israeli drama about motherhood. It follows Anat, a single mother and literature teacher whose son, Ido, returns home from the army only to tell her that all discharges have been suspended. When she discovers he wasn't actually forced to stay, her commitment to the military cause begins to fracture. The film is led by a knockout performance from Dana Ivgy, and it spends its time on the fierce, complicated bond between mother and son within a specifically Israeli context. It's in Hebrew with English subtitles, and the runtime is 93 minutes.
Before it made its way here, Oxygen won Best Israeli Feature at the Jerusalem Film Festival, and Ha'aretz called it the best Israeli movie of 2025. It's a small, focused story that lets the relationship between the two leads do the heavy lifting, so it's the kind of film that works best in a theater rather than on a couch.
