Hands-on creativity festival for young people with the Family Design Challenge, Design Club for 11-14 year olds, a Wallace & Gromit screening and a Halloween clay workshop.
Young V&A is running its October half term programme from Thursday 29 to Saturday 31 October, with everything open 12.00-16.00. It's the V&A's festival for young people, built around hands-on creativity inspired by the museum's collections and designers, and this edition leans on figures like designer Christie Swallow and the animation studio Aardman.
The main thing running across all three days is the Family Design Challenge in Open Studio. Families respond to a designer's brief, explore objects from Young V&A, and get hands-on with materials and tools. The session on 31 October is a Halloween special, 'Goodies & Baddies', supported by Mattel. Alongside that, Relax, Watch & Make! pairs screenings of Aardman's Wallace & Gromit: A Grand Day Out (1989) with low-fi drawing. There are also live performances of BBC Musical Storyland and a family workshop making clay characters.

If you've got older kids, Design Club is just for 11-14 year olds. It runs on 29 and 30 October in The Shed, a residency studio built into the Design Gallery, where they work alongside designers and makers and learn about creative careers with access to the museum's material library. SEND Play is also running throughout. The whole thing is at Young V&A, 2 Whitechapel Park, Bethnal Green, London E2 9PA. Entry is free, except for the Family Workshop, which is £15.
