Free day celebrating the V&A East Youth Collective with printmaking, short film screenings, panel talks and recruitment for the next cohort.
V&A East is hosting a youth engagement event at the V&A East Storehouse on Sunday 18 October, from 13:00 to 18:00. It's a free day for young people to explore creative careers, and it marks five years of the V&A East Youth Collective. The day also doubles as a taster session for anyone thinking about joining the Collective, with recruitment for the next cohort opening on the same day.
Previous members of the Youth Collective co-designed the event, and they're the ones leading the creative interactives and showing their own work and career paths. You can make your own prints on a Risograph printer, watch short film screenings, and look through an exhibition of creative work. There are also panel talks where creative organisations and young East Londoners talk about what it's like to be part of a Youth Collective.
The whole thing is aimed at young creatives aged 13-26, and it sits within the V&A's wider young people programme — a mix of workshops, events and courses led by creatives working across art, design, fashion, digital media, craft, performance and architecture. The day itself is built around the creativity of young East Londoners and asks how museums can support them in figuring out their next steps in culture, heritage and the creative industries.
