Family workshop led by illustrator Lucia Vinti in which children and their accompanying adults design an animated story and turn it into a film poster.
Young V&A is running a family workshop called Imaginary Film Poster from Thursday 29 to Saturday 31 October, with sessions running 11:00–13:00 and 14:00–16:00. It's for children aged 7–14, and it's led by illustrator Lucia Vinti.
The session starts with the museum's collections: children explore objects on display and use them as a springboard to imagine their own animated story. From there, they work through the basic stages of making an animation—designing characters, building a storyline and sketching a storyboard—before turning the whole movie idea into a poster using drawing, collage and a mix of creative materials. It's less about the finished poster and more about the process of thinking through a story from start to finish.
Young V&A is in Bethnal Green, a museum space where children, young people and families are invited to imagine, play and design while exploring inspiring collections and interactive spaces. It was named Art Fund Museum of the Year 2024, so it's a good place to spend a half-term morning or afternoon if you're in East London. The workshop itself takes place in the Imagine Studio, within the Learning Centre.

Tickets are £15, and only the children need them—adults must accompany, with at least one adult per three children and no more than one adult per group. Advance booking is essential, so you'll want to sort your spot ahead of time. The sessions run across three days, 29–31 October, with the 11:00–13:00 and 14:00–16:00 slots to choose from.
