Sustainable Halloween workshop at Fortnum & Mason where edible squash are carved and then used in seasonal dishes.
Fortnum & Mason is hosting a Pumpkin Carving Workshop on Sunday 26 October, in the middle of Mayfair. It's part of their October programme, a month the store fills with hands-on workshops and seasonal fun aimed at food lovers.
The session puts a sustainable spin on a Halloween tradition: instead of the standard pumpkins you'd find at a supermarket, you work with lesser-known edible squash. You carve them on the day, and afterwards they're enjoyed in a selection of seasonal dishes, so nothing goes to waste. It's a bit of a twist on the usual carve-and-dump routine.
If you're into the food side of things, it fits right into the wider October line-up at the store, which runs throughout the month with a focus on workshops and seasonal activities for people who like to get their hands dirty in the kitchen. This one just happens to be the Halloween-themed one.
