Free family session led by musician Kemi Sulola in which children and families make songs from everyday objects as a soundtrack for the future city.
Soundtrack to the City runs at the V&A South Kensington from Monday 26 October to Friday 30 October, with sessions at 11.00, 13.00 and 15.00 each day. It's a pop-up performance led by Kemi Sulola, a musician and singer-songwriter who works across soul, RnB, reggae and hip-hop. The session invites children from age five upwards to tinker, invent and experiment with sound, using unexpected everyday objects as instruments and layering them like an orchestra together with other families. Each session records a song as a new soundtrack for the future city, drawing inspiration from the V&A's Design 1900-Now collection. The performance forms part of the museum's family programme and is supported by the Adobe Foundation.
It's a hands-on one rather than a sit-and-listen, and it's built for families to get stuck into together. The whole thing takes place in the Raphael Court, Room 48a, inside the V&A South Kensington on Cromwell Road. It's free to take part, so it's an easy one to drop into if you're around South Ken with the kids. Each session lasts about 45 minutes, and since they run three a day, you can pick the slot that fits your morning or afternoon best.

One thing to keep in mind: the session on Friday 30 October can no longer go ahead due to industrial action at the V&A, so if you're planning to go, aim for Monday through Thursday. That leaves you four days to choose from, with the 11.00, 13.00 and 15.00 slots running each day.
