Free drop-in family sessions led by the museum's Play Champions, with rotating play activities across the Play, Imagine and Design Galleries and the Town Square.
Play Saturdays are back at Young V&A in Bethnal Green, running on Saturdays from 24 October through to 19 December. They're free, drop-in sessions for families, led by the museum's Play Champions, with activities that rotate across the Play, Imagine and Design Galleries and the Town Square. Every activity is a family one, with adults expected to get stuck in alongside their children, so it's less about sitting back and more about doing it together.
The sessions form part of the museum's Power of Play programme, a collective impact consortium bringing learning-through-play to children in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It's funded by the LEGO Foundation and coordinated by the LEGO Group, with Young V&A working alongside the Institute of Imagination, Save the Children, EasyPeasy and Ambition Aspire Achieve. The whole thing is built around the idea of learning through play, and the rotating nature of the activities means you can come back more than once without hitting the same thing twice.
Young V&A itself is a family-friendly space in Bethnal Green that offers free activities every day, with hands-on making and performances during the school holidays, so this fits right into what they do. The museum is on Cambridge Heath Road, E2 9PA, easy enough to get to if you're around the East End.
