Children's workshop where a picture book inspires young inventors to design and build a solution to an environmental challenge.
Once Upon An ... Invention runs at The British Library on Thursday 29 October, from 15:00 to 16:30. It's a family workshop led by Science Owl and Dr Renee, aimed at children aged four and over and their families.
The session starts with everyone reading a picture book together, and from that story the group moves on to a real-world environmental challenge inspired by the book. With the help of Science Owl's scientists and engineers, the children then design, build and test their own invention to see how it can help the planet. It's a full cycle in one afternoon: reading, imagining, building and testing.
The workshop runs as part of Green Libraries Week at the British Library, so it fits into a wider programme of events around the library that week. It's held in the H M Weinrebe Learning Centre, inside the library at 96 Euston Road, London NW1 2DB.
