Mr Fogg's Calligraphy Workshop

Mr Fogg's Calligraphy Workshop launches at Mr Fogg's Botanical Tavern on Saturday 31 October, and it's a two-hour self-guided session for over-21s. The tavern is one of the Victorian-themed spots in the Mr Fogg's Collection over in Fitzrovia, so you'll be working in a space that fits the whole ink-and-parchment vibe.

Mrs Aouda Fogg leads the way through a series of short digital videos, walking you through the foundations of modern calligraphy before you get to the fun part: experimenting with colourful inks inspired by treasures gathered during Mr Fogg's travels. You'll make three personalised cards or postcards, and you don't leave empty-handed — you take home your finished creations along with a calligraphy pen, a nib, black ink, and practice materials to keep going on your own. A cocktail or mocktail is included in the price, too.

It's a self-guided thing, so you can move through the videos at your own pace rather than following a group in lockstep. If you're not a natural with a pen, that's fine; the videos are there to get you started, and the inks are the real draw. It's as much about the process as the finished cards.

After the launch on the 31st, the workshop runs Wednesdays to Fridays from 5pm, Saturdays 12pm-3pm, and Sundays 12pm-6pm. It's £39pp, and the tavern also does a Botanical Brunch every Saturday from midday, The Espresso Martini Society, and private hire. You'll find it at 48 Newman Street, Fitzrovia, London, W1T 1QQ.
