Victorian cocktail bar experience in which guests blend two personalised bath teas to take home, inspired by Phileas Fogg.
Mr Fogg's Bath Tea Making is running at Mr Fogg's Apothecary in Mayfair, Sunday to Friday from opening time. It's a ninety-minute session that blends a cocktail with a bit of DIY, and you walk away with two personalised bath teas to take home.
The whole thing is set inside the Apothecary, a Victorian cocktail bar inspired by Phileas J. Fogg, the hero of Jules Verne's Around the World in 80 Days. A grand staircase leads up to the Apothecary Room, stocked with an extensive collection of remedies, and a hidden door opens onto the adjoining Elixir Room. Compounded libations, curative tonics and apothecary cocktails are dispensed with precise weighing scales into medicinal bottles of all shapes and sizes.
They call the session 'Mr Fogg's Remedies for the Weary Soul'. It kicks off with a playful Preliminary Examination of Constitution that pairs you with a restorative cocktail. From there, short digital videos guide you through an eclectic array of salts, clays, botanical powders, flowers and herbs to blend your two bath teas. You can finish each can with a handwritten wish, promise or intention on dissolvable parchment, which vanishes as the blend infuses. The venue also runs a Victorian Murder Mystery, cocktail experiments, a botanical brunch and a treasure hunt.
