Live set by singer, songwriter and producer Juliet Temko at The Jazz Social, the EFG London Jazz Festival's pop-up venue at Citypoint.
Juliet Temko opens The Jazz Social on Monday 9 November, the first of many live sessions at the EFG London Jazz Festival's pop-up venue and bar at Citypoint. It's a lunchtime set, starting at 1:00pm, so it's one you can fit into a working day rather than a night out.
Temko is a singer, songwriter and producer who's become a vital voice in London's jazz-influenced music scene. Her sound is agile and timeless, pulling from soul, jazz and folk, and she's as much a nod to Ella Fitzgerald as she is to contemporaries like Lianne La Havas. She started out in Bristol and is now based in London, where she's shared stages at Ronnie Scott's and Thekla with artists including Arima Eddera, Yazmin Lacey and Allysha Joy.
This performance comes as she releases her debut EP, which she recorded at Can Obert, a residential studio in the Catalan countryside, working with collaborators Salpa and UMA — Rosie Lowe and Puma Blue. It's her first show of the festival, and it's the one that kicks off the whole pop-up.

The Jazz Social itself is the EFG London Jazz Festival's dedicated space for the duration of the event. It's a ground-floor, step-free venue at Citypoint, 1 Ropemaker Street (EC2V 9HT), just a stone's throw from the Barbican Centre. It runs for two weeks, and Temko's set is just the start: the space will host live music, radio broadcasts, DJ sets, and family events, and it houses an Everything Jazz / Blue Note record shop. The festival is produced by Serious, with EFG as title sponsor. Temko plays at 1:00pm on Monday 9 November, and entry is free.
