Free lunchtime jazz concert by the London ensemble FIBI, blending jazz, soul, gospel and R&B, at The Jazz Social, the EFG London Jazz Festival pop-up.
FIBI play The Jazz Social on Wednesday 11 November, part of the GSMD lunchtime concert series. It's a mid-week slot, so it's one of those gigs you can slip into over your lunch break rather than clearing an entire evening for.
FIBI is a London-based jazz and soul ensemble fronted by the vocalist and songwriter of the same name, who leads a group of young musicians bound by a devotion to groove and storytelling. They blend contemporary jazz with soul, gospel and R&B influences, drawing from names like Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock and D'Angelo. The sound balances rich harmonies and expressive vocals with dynamic ensemble interplay that moves between intimate lyricism and spirited improvisation. Though an emerging group, they're forging a distinctive sound rooted in the jazz tradition while embracing modern textures and genre-fluidity.
The performance is part of The Jazz Social, the EFG London Jazz Festival's pop-up hangout a stone's throw from the Barbican Centre. It opens for two weeks with a mix of intimate live shows, one-off events, live radio broadcasts and family-friendly activities, alongside a record shop, a Festival bar and secret piano sets throughout the week. If you're in the area for the concert, there's plenty more to do around it.
