Beginner leathercraft workshop for two at The London Leather Workshop, where participants make small accessories to take home.
The London Leather Workshop is running an introduction to leather craft for two on Saturday 24 October, a three-hour session held inside their working studio in London. It's aimed at complete beginners, so you don't need any prior experience to join in. Over the course of the morning, you'll make one or more small accessories to take home — things like a wallet, key ring, glasses case, card holder or bracelet — and leave with something you've actually made yourself.
That's the session in a nutshell, but it helps to know who's running it. The London Leather Workshop is a professional leathercraft, bag-making and leather-goods studio founded by Italian designers and makers Sara Battiston and Melissa Bruscoli. Between them they've got more than 20 years' experience in the fashion, accessories and leather-goods industry, and the studio doesn't just do classes: they work with start-ups, independent designers and established brands on design consultancy, product development, prototyping, sampling and small-batch manufacturing. The courses are taught inside that same working studio in small groups, so you're learning in the same space where they do their professional work.
This introduction is designed as a starting point for people who've never touched leather before, and it can serve as a foundation if you later want to move on to more technical bag-making courses. The broader curriculum they offer runs from beginner sessions like this one through to professional training in bag design, accessory design and leather and vegan leather materials, covering cutting, marking, hand stitching, edge finishing, hardware application and pattern making. This particular session is the entry point, focusing on the basics and getting you a finished piece to take away.

The cost is £108 per person, with materials included, and the workshop runs for three hours. It's a great way to spend a Saturday morning if you've ever wanted to try your hand at leatherwork without having to buy all the tools and materials yourself.
