New contemporary dance production Vortex by choreographers Júlia Robert and Rudi Cole, performed by the international company HUMANHOOD.
HUMANHOOD bring their new production Vortex to Sadler's Wells East from Tuesday 10 November, with performances running through to Saturday 14 November. It's a dance piece choreographed by Júlia Robert and Rudi Cole, performed by the company's cast of seven. The work is built around a cinematic soundscape, and the seven dancers move to it, turning the stage into the eye of a tornado.
If you haven't come across them before, HUMANHOOD is an international company based in Birmingham and Barcelona, founded back in 2016. They describe their work as fusing physicality and spirituality through a movement language noted for its fluidity and rhythm. Vortex follows their sell-out hit ∞ {Infinite}, and it's already travelled quite a bit: it's been staged at the Venice Biennale, CINARS in Montreal, Festival Grec in Barcelona, and PAMS in Seoul, and it's been featured by the BBC and Arte. The European dance magazine SuzyQ named it one of the best performances of 2025. It was co-commissioned by Festival Grec, Mercat de les Flors, and MAC Birmingham.

On the practical side, most shows start at 7:30pm, with the exception of Friday 13 November, which is also at 7:30pm. The running time is 55 minutes, and there's no interval, so it's a single stretch of movement from start to finish. It's recommended for ages 8 and up, so it works as a family outing if you've got younger ones you want to bring along. Tickets start from £15, with a £4 transaction fee on top, and the venue is Sadler's Wells East at 101 Carpenters Road, London, E20 2AR.
