Germán Cornejo's acclaimed tango show with Argentine dancers, a live orchestra and the 2026 World Tango Champions, set to Astor Piazzolla's music.
Tango After Dark returns to Sadler's Wells Theatre for a short run from 5 to 9 November, with the show moving to the main stage while the Peacock Theatre remains closed. It's a production by World Tango Champion Germán Cornejo, who first brought it to Sadler's Wells in 2018 and returns now after that run sold out.
The show is built around an ensemble of Argentine dancers, and Cornejo describes their work as redefining what tango can be. The music is the pulse of the whole thing: Astor Piazzolla's nuevo tango, the genre he created by blending classical music and jazz. It's billed as a celebration of passion and seduction rooted in Buenos Aires, and it's performed live by a five-piece orchestra and two singers. Joining the company are 2026 World Tango Champions Nicolás Schell and Nahir Schinca.
It runs about two hours with a 20-minute interval, and it's recommended for ages five and over. After the performance, there's a post-show talk by the Artistic Director, which is free for ticket holders of that performance and BSL interpreted.
