Three-hour hands-on cider-making session for two at Hiver in Bermondsey, where you press the juice, taste honey and cheese and take home a demijohn to fill.
Hiver is running a cider making workshop for two in Bermondsey, with sessions on selected Saturdays from September through to March 2026. It's a three-hour hands-on experience, and the whole thing is built around the process of making cider from scratch rather than just watching someone else do it.
You start by sampling the apples, then you weigh, wash and chop them before pressing the juice. While you're working through that, an expert host walks you through the history of cider making and where the industry stands today, so you get the context alongside the practical side. There's also a cheeseboard and some honey to taste while you're at it.
The session doesn't end when you leave the workshop. You'll take home a tote bag containing a demijohn, two bottles to fill at home, and a 'how to' guide, so you can ferment the juice yourself. Once it's ready, you'll return for a cider tasting that runs across styles from brut to sweet. It's a slow-burn process: you do the pressing in the workshop, the fermenting at home, and the tasting later on.

There's a bit more to Hiver than just the cider. They source their honey from independent British beekeepers, share bee-friendly seeds, and pledge 10% of their profits to pollinator and green-space projects. The minimum age for the workshop is 18. A session for two costs £69, and it runs for about three hours.
