Workshop to make a traditional festive wreath from natural materials at Brixton Windmill, part of the Windmill Festive Fair.
Brixton Windmill is hosting a wreath-making workshop on Sunday 6 December, from 12:30 to 13:30. It's part of the Windmill Festive Fair, and the session runs about an hour, so you're in and out by lunchtime. You'll work with natural materials to put together a traditional festive wreath to take home, and it's open to everyone aged 14 and up, which means you can bring along a teenager if you fancy a joint afternoon.
It's a small thing on its own, but it sits in a London tradition that's bigger than any one venue. Every December, florists across the city turn their workshop spaces into wreath studios. Some of the names you'll come across have been at it for decades: Rebel Rebel started in 2000 as a small floral events company before growing into a Tufnell Park shop and workshop; Botanique Workshop dates back to 2015; Paul Thomas Flowers was established in 1989 and has designed for iconic London landmarks, hotels and private homes. McQueens Flower School has been teaching since 1999, and Moyses Stevens, London's most famous flower shop, opened in 1876 and has been creating intricate designs for over 150 years. The Real Flower Co. draws on produce from its own carbon-negative, climate-positive farm in Hampshire.

So, while this particular session is just one hour at Brixton Windmill, it's part of a city-wide habit of spending December mornings with greenery and wire. The workshop is at Brixton Windmill, 100 Blenheim Gardens, London SW2 5DA, and it costs £16 per person.
