Free storytelling workshop for children aged 4 to 7 with storyteller Vanessa Woolf, in which they solve mysteries with Little Miss Marple and the Mr. Men and Little Miss characters.
Little Miss Marple is a family storytelling workshop at the H M Weinrebe Learning Centre in the British Library on Saturday 7 November, with three separate sessions to choose from: 10:30, 12:30 and 14:30, each running for an hour.
Storyteller Vanessa Woolf invites young 'mini sleuths' to drop into the vicarage of St Mary Mead and join in solving, singing, storytelling and drawing alongside classic characters from the Mr Men and Little Miss universe. The session draws on the collections created by the late Roger Hargreaves in 1971, which have sold over 250 million books, and connects them to Agatha Christie, the best-selling novelist of all time, who introduced Miss Marple a decade after her detective Hercule Poirot. It's a crossover of two very different kinds of mystery: the cosy, village-sleuthing of Christie and the bright, bold world of Hargreaves.
Woolf tells happy, kind stories using props and music, and she's a seasoned hand with this kind of thingโshe's created stories for children for many of the UK's biggest museums, festivals and galleries, including Shakespeare's Globe and the London Eye. The workshop is for children aged 4 to 7, and a parent must stay for the duration. The venue offers step-free access.
