Free drop-in design session where visitors, inspired by artist Gayle Chong Kwan, imagine an invention for a future city and turn it into wearable head art from recycled packaging.
Drop-in Design: The Circulation Department runs at the V&A South Kensington from Monday 26 to Friday 30 October, though you'll want to note that the sessions on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 have been cancelled due to industrial action, so the window is effectively Monday to Wednesday. It's part of the museum's South Kensington programme, and the whole thing is led by artist Gayle Chong Kwan.
The premise is simple enough to explain to a five-year-old: you imagine an invention for a future city and then build it as wearable art for your head. You work with V&A images and recycled packaging to pull it together, and once you've finished, your creation joins a moving exhibition of other new inventions. It's a walk-in session, so there's no booking required—you just turn up when you fancy it.
It's recommended for ages five and up, and a parent has to stay with you, as no child can be left unattended. If you're planning to bring the kids, that's the main thing to keep in mind before you set off. The session runs from 11:00 to 16:00 each day, so you've got a decent stretch to work with if you're fitting it around a half-term day out.

You'll find it in the Sculpture Galleries, Room 24, at the Victoria and Albert Museum on Cromwell Road, SW7 2RL. Entry is free, and since it's a drop-in, you can just wander in whenever suits you between Monday and Wednesday.
