Free, child-led sensory play session for children aged 0 to 3 and their parents or carers, working with open-ended materials.
Design Baby is back at the V&A South Kensington from Monday 26 to Friday 30 October, running 11:00โ16:00 each day. It's a child-led, non-structured sensory play session they've put together with Play Build Play, aimed at children aged 0 to 3 and their parents or carers. The whole thing is built around letting little ones explore sculpture and architecture through shape, weight, balance, space and texture, working with experimental, open-ended materials like trolleys, soft pom-poms and twisty tubes at their own pace, with adults staying by their side.
It's not a guided class with a set plan, so the children lead the way. The materials are open-ended, meaning there's no right or wrong way to use themโthey can build, stack, move things around, and see what happens. The sessions run in the V&A's Learning Centre gallery, and they're timed to the school holidays, with this October run following similar sessions during the February and May half terms.

Space is limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and families are encouraged to connect with one another while the little ones play. If you're planning a full day out, the museum's cafes offer children's meal deals and highchairs, and you can take packed lunches to the Lunchroom or the John Madejski Garden. The sessions are free, and you'll find them in the John Lyon's Charity Community Gallery, Learning Centre, Level 0, V&A South Kensington, Cromwell Road, London, SW7 2RL.
