18+ book-swap workshop where attendees bring a book with a cover they love (or don't) to chat about cover design and swap titles.
Morocco Bound is hosting Book Cover: Share + Swap at Morocco Bound Bermondsey on Tuesday 20 October, a book-swap workshop with a crafty twist. The premise is simple: you bring a book with a cover you love — or one you really don't — and gather in their cosy Bermondsey space to chat about book cover design before swapping titles with the other people in the room.
Leading the session are Steph from Minuet Workshop, the creator of Read Receipts, and Beth, Morocco Bound's resident designer and book curator. Between them, they bring together two different ways of looking at the thing: Steph's background with Read Receipts sits on the side of reading and curation, while Beth's role as a designer and curator means she's spent her time thinking about how books are actually put together. The conversation will centre on the covers themselves — why some work, why others don't, and how much of a book's appeal is decided before you've even opened it. After the chat, the swap happens, and you leave with a new title to take home.

It's presented by Morocco Bound, and the room holds 60 people, so it's a fairly small group rather than a big crowd. Doors open at 6:30 PM, and the session starts shortly after. Tickets start from £5, and there's an 18+ entry policy. You'll need to bring a book along to take part in the swap, so have a look through your shelves for a cover you've got an opinion on.
