Free afternoon celebrating the connections between the Latino and Jewish communities through live music, cultural dance, art, food and conversation.
Vecinos: A Latino and Jewish Celebration comes to the Arthur M. Glick JCC on Sunday, October 25, from 4 PM to 7 PM. It's a free event, though they're asking for registrations. The afternoon is presented by JCC Indianapolis in partnership with Arte Mexicano en Indiana, Indiana Latino Expo, and the Indianapolis Jewish Community Relations Council.
The celebration focuses on the connections between the Latino and Jewish communities, and it does that through a few different things happening at once. There's live music and cultural dance performances, art exhibitions to walk through, and gastronomic samples to taste. Between those, there are conversations with community leaders. If you're coming for the talking part, the community remarks run from 4:45 PM to 6:30 PM.
Vecinos is part of the 28th Annual Ann Katz Festival of Books & Arts, the three-week festival JCC Indianapolis has staged since 1999. The festival brings together authors, films, and local visual and performing artists, and the JCC frames it as an inclusive experience guided by Jewish values and traditions, aimed at personal growth and community building.
