Free Halloween night event for children 12 and under and their parents, with candy and giveaways from local businesses.
Safe Night Halloween returns to the Indiana State Fairgrounds on Saturday, October 31, from 5 PM to 7 PM. It's a free, indoor trick-or-treating event for kids 12 and under, and this year marks its 30th anniversary. The Fairgrounds hosts it alongside dozens of community partners, so it's a single spot to hit for the evening rather than a neighborhood walk.
Local businesses get involved in two ways: some provide monetary sponsorships that the committee uses to buy candy, while others set up their own tables to hand out approved giveaways like candy, books, or other small items. That's where the trick-or-treating comes inโthe kids move from table to table throughout the event center, filling their bags without having to go door-to-door. It's designed as a safe, controlled environment for families to spend Halloween night, and it's grown into one of the larger community events in Central Indiana, drawing more than 3,000 children to the fairgrounds.
