Hands-on workshop for preschoolers to build their own tiny terrariums and learn about plants at the Franklin Road Branch.
Little Sprouts is back at the Franklin Road Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library on Wednesday, November 11, from 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM. It's a hands-on workshop for preschoolers, and the project this time is a classic: the kids build their own tiny terrariums. While they're putting them together, they'll be growing and learning about plants, so it's as much about the science as it is about the making.
One practical thing to keep in mind: the library encourages everyone to dress to mess. Between the soil and the water, things can get a little dirty, so you'll want to dress your little one in clothes you don't mind getting a bit muddy. It's a short session—just 45 minutes—which is about the right length for a preschooler's attention span.
The Franklin Road Branch serves Franklin Township and has been around since 2000, when it replaced the 1969 Wanamaker Branch with this 18,000-square-foot facility. The program is made possible by the Everwise Foundation through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.
