Author talk with Jacqueline Friedland about her novel 'Breathing Under Water', the 2026 Community Reads selection, at the JCC Indianapolis.
Jacqueline Friedland will be at the Arthur M. Glick Jewish Community Center on Tuesday, November 10, at 7 PM for a talk about her novel Breathing Under Water. The evening is a Jewish Book Council program, and the book itself is this year's Community Reads selection. It also made the Zibby Owens Most Anticipated Book of Summer 2026 list.
Breathing Under Water follows two women whose lives intersect through a teenager with autism. The story centers on how their paths cross around that one shared connection, and Friedland will be talking through the book during the session.
The talk is part of the 2026 Ann Katz Festival of Books & Arts, which is now in its 28th year. The festival runs from October 25 to November 17 at the JCC Indianapolis and brings in well-known authors, award-winning films, and local visual and performing artists. It's named for Irwin and Ann Katz, whose more than 70 years of support grew it from a one-week book fair into a full cultural arts program. The JCC Indianapolis is a beneficiary agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis and United Way of Central Indiana, and an affiliate member of the JCC Association of North America.
