Family-friendly Halloween celebration at Space Center Houston with trick-or-treating, pop-up science labs, astronaut appearances and a space-themed film.
Space Center Houston is bringing back Galaxy Frights, its annual space-themed Halloween celebration, for two weekends this October. It runs October 24 and 25, and then again on October 31, so you've got a couple of options if the first weekend doesn't work. The whole center gets decorated for the season, and the event is built as a family-friendly mix of spooky fun and space exploration.
There's plenty to do throughout the building. Trick-or-treat candy stations are spread across the center, and you'll find pop-up science labs and spooky photo ops along the way. A living-astronaut statue and Commander Quest make appearances, and Chef Chats run in The Food Lab at 12 PM, 1 PM, and 2 PM. If you're visiting on a Saturday, there are NASA astronaut presentations in the Mission Briefing Center at 11:30 AM and 1:20 PM. The film Facing Fears screens on-site, featuring NASA astronauts, engineers, and flight controllers talking about how they confronted and overcame some of the scariest parts of space exploration.

It's a good one for families with kids, especially if you're already planning to be out for Halloween. The candy stations and science labs give you something to do as you move through the center, and the astronaut presentations on Saturdays add a bit more to the day. The whole thing is included in the cost of general admission, so you don't need a separate ticket for the Halloween activities—just your usual entry to Space Center Houston at 1601 E NASA Pkwy, Houston, TX 77058.
