Annual Halloween celebration with a costume contest, living sculptures, games, spooky music and photo opportunities.
Scream on the Green returns to Discovery Green on Friday, October 30, from 6 PM to 9 PM. It's Discovery Green's annual Halloween celebration, a Houston tradition that comes back each year with a costume contest, living sculptures, games, spooky music and photo opportunities. The event takes place on the Anheuser-Busch Stage, right in the middle of the park.
If you've been around the city for a while, you probably know the drill. The costume contest is the center of it, so there's a good reason to put some thought into your outfit before you head over. Between the contest and the music, you'll find living sculptures scattered around, games to play, and plenty of photo ops to document the night. It's a family-friendly setup, and since it's outdoors, it's as much about hanging out in the park as it is about the specific activities.

Discovery Green itself is a 12-acre public space in the heart of the city, and this is one of its signature annual events. It's billed as one of Houston's best Halloween night-outs and one of the city's top free Halloween events for families, so it's a good bet if you're looking for something to do with kids or just want a low-stakes way to get into the holiday spirit. Admission is free, and it runs from 6 PM to 9 PM on Friday, October 30, at the Anheuser-Busch Stage.
