Rob Newman: 21st Century Survival Guide

Rob Newman is back at The Stand Comedy Club on Saturday 27 February 2027, with a new show called 21st Century Survival Guide. It comes on the heels of his latest novel, INTELLIGENCE, and the title gives away exactly where he's heading: a whistlestop tour of new ideas and the clues history offers for when the rich and powerful go ape. He'll be working through oil shocks, chatbots, and billionaire Tech Bros, so it's as much a look at where we've been as where we're heading.

If you haven't seen him before, the critics have been pretty loud about it. The Scotsman called him 'a Superhero whose Superpower was Comedy' and gave it five stars; The Guardian described him as 'one of comedy's most skilled performers' with four stars; and The Sunday Times went for 'the funniest comedian I have ever seen... passionate, chaotically brilliant'. Between them, they paint a picture of a performer who can hold a room with a mix of sharp wit and a genuine, slightly manic energy.

The venue is The Stand, which has been a Glasgow fixture since it opened in 1995. It started as a hobby for a group of enthusiasts and grew into a commercial company that still keeps its roots in developing new comedy in Scotland. They run three purpose-built clubs across Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle, and the Glasgow spot continues to mix solo shows with Red Raw beginners' nights, improvised comedy, sketch shows, and Irish and Scottish showcases. Last year, more than 100,000 people visited the clubs.

One thing to keep in mind: the show is strictly for over-18s. You'll find The Stand at 420 Great Western Road in the West End, G4 9HZ, and Rob Newman takes the stage on Saturday 27 February 2027.
