A Hogmanay party with live bands, ceilidh, DJs, sax, singers and aerial performers, plus a finger buffet.
The Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom is hosting its first-ever Hogmanay party on Thursday 31 December, running from 8pm until 1am. It's the venue's first New Year's Eve celebration, so if you're looking for a way to bring in 2027 without leaving the city, this is a good shout.
The night is spread across two floors, with live entertainment going on both. There are live bands, ceilidh bands, DJs, a sax player, singers and aerial performers, and a finger buffet to keep you going. With the ceilidh bands in the mix, there'll be plenty of room for dancing, and the aerial performers add something a bit more than your usual party fare. It's a full night of live acts rather than just a DJ set, so you've got a few different things to move between as the hours tick by.
For those who haven't spent much time there, the Barrowland is a Glasgow institution. Built in 1934 as a ballroom in the East End, it's now an iconic concert hall known for its atmosphere and acoustics. The Art Deco design, with its curved facade and neon lighting, gives the room a real sense of occasion. Over the years it's hosted some of the biggest names in music β R.E.M., Oasis, The Cure, The Smiths, U2, Blur, Bob Dylan, BjΓΆrk, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Metallica, Green Day, Arctic Monkeys and Travis have all played here. It also puts on charity fundraisers, wrestling matches and dance events, so it's used to a wide range of crowds.
