A festive comedy night with the best comics from the UK and beyond at The Stand Comedy Club, hosted by Bruce Devlin.
The Stand Christmas Special runs at The Stand Comedy Club on Thursday 17, Friday 18 and Saturday 19 December, three nights of comedy in the West End. The line-up is headed by Susie McCabe, with Thomas Elvin, Al Stevenson and Kim Blythe on the bill, and Bruce Devlin hosting. It's the same set across all three dates, so you can pick whichever night suits you best.
If you're not familiar with the place, The Stand opened in 1995 on Great Western Road and has grown from a hobby run by a group of enthusiasts into a commercial company with three purpose-built venues across Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle. It's kept its focus on developing new Scottish comedy, and the programme runs from Red Raw — the beginners' nights that many count as the best open mic in the UK — to improvised comedy, sketch shows, the all-female Wicked Wenches, and Irish and Scottish showcases, alongside solo shows from better-known names. Many comics and critics rate the rooms among the best in the world, and just over 100,000 people walked through the doors last year.

The Christmas Special is billed as an alternative to paper hats and over-priced turkey, bringing together comics from across the UK and beyond. It's over-18s only, and while group bookings are accepted if you contact the venue, stag and hen parties aren't. The club is at 420 Great Western Road, Glasgow West End, G4 9HZ.
