Pierre Novellie returns to The Stand with observational nerd comedy, one last time before bed.
Pierre Novellie returns to The Stand Comedy Club on Wednesday 17 March, with a second show on Thursday 18 March, both starting at 7:00 PM. It's his first time back at the club since last year's You Sit There, I'll Stand Here, and this new hour is called Okay, One More Then Bedtime.
Novellie describes his work as observational nerd comedy, and the title gives you a good sense of the mood: one last story before calling it a night. The material runs from his idiosyncratic takes on food through to a full-blown existential crisis, played out as that final stretch of the evening. It's the kind of set that works best in a room like The Stand, where the storytelling takes centre stage.
He's been getting a warm reception for this one. Chortle called it another banger from a comedian with one of the most consistently entertaining bodies of work of the last two decades, giving it 4.5/5. Beyond the Joke said he aced it again with an exquisitely delivered show, 4/5, and The Scotsman described him as a master writer, storyteller and raconteur. If you've caught his previous work, you'll recognise the same focus on the small, specific things that end up taking over the whole hour.
