Amy Matthews brings her new comedy show Definitions of Toast to The Stand Comedy Club in Glasgow.
Amy Matthews brings her new comedy show, Definitions of Toast, to The Stand Comedy Club on Sunday 29 November. It's a solo stand-up set from a comedian and writer who's spent the last few years working across TV, radio and the stage, and this is her latest piece of new material.
If you haven't come across her yet, Matthews has a fair bit of credit to her name. Her five-star special I Feel Like I'm Made of Spiders aired on ITVx, and she's appeared on Comedy Central Live, Gifted on the BBC, and the BAFTA award-winning Scot Squad. She hosts the official English Heritage podcast and has writing credits on Have I Got News For You? on BBC One. She's also spent plenty of time on the road, touring as support for Ed Byrne, Josh Widdicombe, Suzi Ruffell, Tom Allen, Sarah Keyworth, Jason Manford, Tom Davis and Jessica Fostekew.
Critics have described her style in a few different ways: The Scotsman called her "drily funny and giddily quirky", Rolling Stone noted her "searing wit", and Manchester Wire put her as treading "between stand-up and troubadour". Definitions of Toast is presented by Little Wander in association with PBJ Management.

As for the venue, The Stand is on Great Western Road in the Glasgow West End. It opened in 1995 and now runs three purpose-built clubs across Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle; it started as a hobby by a group of enthusiasts and grew into a commercial success while staying true to its roots of developing new Scottish comedy. One thing to keep in mind before you book: the show is strictly for over-18s.
