Stand-up show by comedian Tom Allen in which he reckons up what life is all about.
Tom Allen brings his new comedy show Totally to the Edinburgh Playhouse on Thursday 11 May 2028, starting at 7.30pm. It's his first new tour since Completely, which he describes as a runaway sell-out success, and Totally follows a similar thread: he's told to live in the moment, but finds himself distracted by the absurdities of modern life instead.
He spends the show reckoning up what life is all about, and the things that get in the way. There's the sight of old women on the bus listening to music without earphones, and influencers telling him what his house should look like while his kitchen has just flooded. Then there's the plumber who wants to fit a 'fanny trap'. He knows he should be enjoying things, but still feels he doesn't quite fit in.
If you only know him from the telly, there's a fair bit more to him than the punchlines. He's a multi-talented comedian and TV personality, co-hosting ITV's Cooking with the Stars and the Like Minded Friends podcast, and hosting the gardening podcast Pottering. He's a regular on The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Would I Lie To You? and QI, and he starred in the hit musical Titanique. He's also a best-selling author of two memoirs, No Shame and Too Much, and the debut novel Common Decency.
